The latest book by Károly Halmos is out!
2021.04.04.

Our colleague Károly Halmos has published his latest book entitled Cost and Poetry. The economic and social history of ideas!
"Collected volumes are useful. They offer an opportunity for the author to show the connections between his various writings. They also raise questions. For example, how much time changes the meaning of the writings. In the humanities, context matters. If we take the writings out of their original world, we change them, and once we have changed them, there is no theoretical obstacle to continuing to do so. We might as well transform the texts. But if we do, why not boil them down into one or more small monographs? With the development of digitisation, these questions may soon be settled. In the future, authors will be able to constantly adapt their manuscripts, and readers will be able to add their comments. But that is not the case now. Let there be a volume. Almost all these studies have already been published somewhere. I have not rewritten them, but where, on re-reading, I have found errors or passages that have lost their relevance, I have corrected or deleted them without reflection." (Károly Halmos)
