Choosing a career was not easy in the Horthy era, and girls graduating from high school had to face even more prohibitions than boys. The women's organisations of the era and women who felt responsible for youth - regardless of their ideology - did not leave the girls in the deep end, they helped them with career advice. All of them believed that women should have their own specific considerations when choosing a career: first and foremost, that they should strive for independence, entrepreneurship and earning potential - so as not to jeopardise men's livelihoods and secure jobs in the state.
