Workshop IV.

2021.04.15.

Our series on the professionalisation of the healing professions has just ended, and the next seminar is here!

On 23 April 2021, starting at 15.30, there will be a seminar entitled "Education sets you free, education makes you human!" Ferenc Ney (1814-1889), educator and writer Memoirs!

Géza BUZINKAY (historian, doctorate of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences), curator of the memoir, will participate in the discussion, while Gábor GYÁNI (historian, academic) will be the invited speaker. Ferenc Ney was a writer, a revolutionary and a teacher at the same time, and his memoirs are a unique source for the professionalisation of the Hungarian teaching profession!

"The career of Ferenc Ney (1814-1889) is a rare example of the 19th century. Ney's career is a rare example of a Hungarian self-made-man life story that was completed in the 19th century - a phenomenon of the bourgeois intellectual, the Bildungsbürgertum, a phenomenon that is classified as Bildungsbürgertum further west of us: starting from the precarious level of the Hungarian order society, then with a dedicated sense of vocation, inexhaustible intellectual interest, a thirst for learning and activity, collecting only intellectual wealth - even his home was provided by the school he managed - he reached the point at the end of his life that his work and his creations were first recognised by the King with the decoration of the Knight of the Order of Franz Joseph, and then with the highest title, the Hungarian nobility. " (Géza Buzinkay)
